About object:

A public space only becomes really public, when it is interwoven into the lives of town-dwellers, when it has its own face and is hospitable, adapted for visitors. Hence, the main task of the architects is creation of not just the beautiful green areas, but of a mood of the place, a story that would attract the passers-by like a magic until it becomes their concurrent part. The Poetry Park designed by the architects is exactly such – an oasis of contemplation and peace with its integral element – water. That is so, because the Poetry Park is intervened between a central square of the town Marijampolė and the river Šešupė, with the stream Javonis flowing through its territory. According to the project authors, this park is very important public space for resting of the town-dwellers, chamber concerts and formation of the town image. Of the town that is not dissociated from water, but facing about it: following the architects’ idea, the preexistent hydro-technical embankments were dozed, the banks were planted or stairs and inclines were formed of stones, which brought pleasure to the town-dwellers for cheating their time. The banks of previously sightly forgotten and squalid stream Javonis were also revived. The formerly “dead” territory has rung with new accords again.
